2006-2007 Faculty/Staff Campaign Going on Now!

October 2, 2006 marks the beginning of the 2006-2007 Faculty/Staff Campaign. Our goals this year are to achieve a 100 percent participation rate and to raise $100,000. Our theme is “Success Starts at Home.”

On behalf of our students, you are encouraged to give a gift to this year’s campaign. Your support matters, and every dollar counts. You can specify that your gift be used to fund a scholarship of your choice, to support faculty and staff development, or to help ensure that UMUC’s academic programs remain state-of-the-art.

For this year’s campaign, each of you will be assigned to a team; your team captain will distribute a participant’s package to each team member in the coming week. Watch for it! For more details about this year’s campaign and its objectives, visit http://www.umuc.edu/develop/facultystaff. Watch for updates, too, as the campaign progresses. Prizes will be awarded to this year’s top teams. And don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of the campaign mascot, Ernie the Dragon!

Together, we can reach our goals. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Remember, “Success Starts at Home.”

Microsoft Security Patch May Impact Portal Access

A recent critical security patch from Microsoft has been shown to cause Internet Explorer to crash when accessing some links within the MyUMUC portal. This issue affects computers operating on Windows 2000 or Windows XP with Service Pack 1.

Please be assured that we are working closely with Microsoft and PeopleSoft for a solution. In the meantime, we recommend accessing the portal with a computer running on a system not affected by the patch, such as Windows XP with service pack 2.

We apologize for any inconvenience. If you experience problems navigating the portal, please contact the Help Desk at 1-877-868-2847.
